Wisconsin Hero Outdoors
Part of what I would like to do with Wisconsin’s Outdoor Explorer is highlight people and organizations that work towards helping themselves and others get back into the outdoors. Getting outside and away from your everyday life is not only relaxing but, in some cases, very therapeutic.
Recently I talked with Eric Falkner, the CEO of Wisconsin Hero Outdoors. Their mission is to help connect Veterans, First Responders and their families to outdoor activities in Wisconsin. Gathering them together using the comradery of outdoor activities to address both the physical and mental health challenges brought on by the stresses of service.
The work that Wisconsin Hero Outdoors is doing is the perfect example of why the outdoors is so important. It provides a place for those that served to step away for the noise in their lives and just be. All while in the presence of the others who know the difficulties and stresses of the jobs they are doing or have done.
This is a great organization that is doing a lot of good in our state and I encourage you to reach out them to see how you can help support what they are doing. Or if you know a Veteran or First Responder that could benefit from the help that Wisconsin Hero Outdoors offers, please reach out to them and let them know that there are people out there that they can talk to and people who will listen.
